Risotto with GMOs? NO THANKS

Risotto with GMOs? NO THANKS

Dear cyberattivisti,
this time the threat may arrive on our plates, hitting a staple in the world, the rice. Bayer - German chemicals giant - is trying to sell to other countries a variety of genetically modified rice resistant to a herbicide.

The rice of Bayer - LL62 called - has been genetically modified to withstand high doses of glufosinate, a herbicide sprayed in the rice fields to remove various kinds of weeds. Glufosinate is considered so dangerous to the humans and the environment which will soon be banned in Europe, as recently established by European legislation.

currently exists only in the GE rice field trials. It is not grown commercially in any country in the world. In the coming weeks, however, the EU will decide whether this genetically modified rice will enter the European countries appear on supermarket shelves and end up on our plates.
Italy at the European level, is the largest producer of rice and organic products. Do not let that GMOs threaten our food, our agriculture and our environment! you also signed the petition and help spread it.

Thanks and see you soon!
